Concept: Barbary is another creative development of Joey Ghazal (creator of the Maine). Focus has been appointed to develop the kitchen design for Barbary. The goal was to define the available space into a Pork Kitchen. It is commonly known that the handling of Pork in a Muslim Country is faced with many challenges. In particular when it comes to the handling and cooking of such products. Furthermore, the minimal space available was a strong challenge to create two independent kitchens for one restaurant.
Focus Hospitality Consulting has been appointed to design the two kitchens in line with the 'Non-Halal' section of DMFA and managed to get the last 4 Star Hotel approved to serve pork in Dubai. Thereafter only 5 Star hotels have received the approval to serve 'Non-Halal' food.
Focus Hospitality has been actively involved in the concept creation, design and tender process up to testing and commissioning and handover to the operations team of Barbary.
The unique place is quirky and absolutely unknown for the DXB market. Till today Barbary is a reflection of the underground entertainment industry only known to New York, Paris or London.
The project has been handed over early 2019 and is operating ever since successfully.
